Spa Etiquette in Dhaka:
A Complete Beginner’s Guide
Nervous about your first spa visit in Dhaka? Here’s exactly what to do — from booking to tipping — so you feel confident and relaxed.
What to Wear
Thai massage: loose clothing (yoga wear). Oil massage: you undress to comfort level, draped with towels. We provide disposable underwear.
Communicate
Tell your therapist about injuries, pressure preference, and any discomfort during the session. We’re here for you.
Phone Off
Please silence your phone. The treatment room is a sanctuary. Give yourself permission to disconnect for an hour.
Arrive Early
Come 10 minutes before booking. Complete the health form, use facilities, and settle in. Rushing ruins the relaxation.
Booking Etiquette
- Book ahead: Especially for evenings and weekends. Same-day booking is available but subject to therapist availability.
- Cancellation: Please give 2 hours notice if you need to cancel. Late cancellations mean our therapists miss income.
- Payment: We accept cash, bKash, and cards. Payment is at the end of your session.
During Your Session
- Speak up: Too much pressure? Too light? Cold? Hot? Tell us. We adjust to your comfort.
- Breathe: Deep breathing enhances the massage. Don’t hold your breath.
- Relax: This is your time. Close your eyes. Let your mind wander. Some guests even fall asleep — it’s perfectly fine.
Tipping Guide
Tipping is appreciated but not mandatory in Dhaka spas. Our therapists are trained professionals who take pride in their work. If you’re happy with the service:
- Standard: 10% of the service price
- Exceptional: 15-20%
- How: Cash directly to the therapist or add to card payment at reception
After Your Session
- Hydrate: Drink water to flush out released toxins
- Shower: For oil massages, we have clean shower facilities
- Take it easy: Your body is in a relaxed state. Avoid heavy activity for a few hours
FAQs
Do I need to shave before a massage?
Not at all. Our therapists work with all body types. If you’re concerned about oil massage, it’s entirely optional.
Can I wear makeup to Thai massage?
Yes, since no oil touches your face. For oil massage, makeup may smudge from the face cradle.
Is it okay to talk during the session?
You can talk as much or as little as you want. Some guests chat, others meditate silently. Both are welcome.
Can I book for someone else?
Yes, gift vouchers are available. Call or WhatsApp to arrange.
