Indian Oil Massage Guide:
Warm Herbal Oils for Deep Healing
Ancient Ayurvedic techniques meet modern relaxation. Here’s everything about Indian oil massage at Melody Thai Spa.
What Is Indian Oil Massage?
Indian oil massage (Abhyanga in Ayurvedic tradition) involves warm herbal oils applied to the body with long, rhythmic strokes. Unlike Thai massage which uses no oil, Indian oil massage is deeply nourishing for both muscles and skin.
The oil is heated to body temperature and infused with herbs traditionally used in Ayurvedic healing. The therapist works from head to toe, using specific strokes designed to move lymph, relax muscles, and calm the nervous system.
Benefits
Deep Muscle Release
Warm oil penetrates deep into muscle tissue, releasing knots and tension more effectively than room-temperature oil.
Skin Nourishment
Herbal oils moisturize and condition your skin. Regular sessions leave skin noticeably softer and healthier.
Stress Reduction
The combination of warmth, aroma, and rhythmic strokes triggers deep relaxation. Cortisol levels drop significantly.
Joint Mobility
Warm oil lubricates joints, reducing stiffness and improving range of motion. Especially helpful for aging joints.
Better Sleep
Most guests report their best sleep after an Indian oil massage. The nervous system reset lasts for days.
Indian Oil Massage vs Aromatherapy Massage
While both use oil, Indian oil massage uses warm herbal oils with Ayurvedic properties, while aromatherapy uses essential oils for their scent-based therapeutic effects. Indian oil massage focuses more on physical healing and deep tissue release, while aromatherapy targets emotional well-being and relaxation. Both are available at Melody Thai Spa.

FAQs
What oil do you use?
We use a blend of sesame and coconut oil infused with Ayurvedic herbs including ashwagandha, brahmi, and neem. All oils are 100% natural.
Should I shower before?
Not necessary, but we recommend showering after (we have clean facilities) to remove excess oil.
Is it different from Thai massage?
Very different. Indian oil massage uses warm oil on bare skin with gliding strokes. Thai massage uses no oil and is performed clothed with stretching.
